Welcome to the Carpenters Arms Westrip
When Sammy took over The Carpenters Arms in 2019, she quickly faced the unexpected challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, which shut down pubs nationwide. Determined to keep her dream of running a pub alive, Sammy adapted by opening a small shop selling essentials and offering takeaway Sunday roast dinners, along with takeaway beer and cider. This initiative helped support not just the local community, but also the wider Stroud area during difficult times.
Now, five years later, The Carpenters Arms continues to thrive, offering a warm welcome to all. Our food is crafted with care, using the finest organic ingredients sourced locally to ensure every dish is of the highest quality. Led by our talented, qualified chef Leah, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional, high-end dining in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Whether you're looking for a casual bite or a special meal, you’ll find something to satisfy your tastes. Sammy's dream of running a top-tier pub is alive and well, and the doors are always open for you to experience our passion for great food and hospitality.

REGIONAL CIDER & PERRY PUB OF THE YEAR 2025

This year we won the CAMRA West Central Regional Cider & Perry Pub of the Year Award for 2025, which covers Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, and Worcestershire. We are now competing to win the national final.
"The Carps serve a range of local ciders like Day's Cottage from near Gloucester and Orchard revival from Dursley... Pubs are judged not just on cider quality, but also their promotion of cider, cleanliness, community focus, staff knowledge and service, and support for CAMRA's wider aims" -Stroud News and Journal.
Come and try our wide selection of Ciders and Perries!
Event Catering
We also do catering for your events outside the pub!
Need catering for an event? Whether it's a wedding or party, our team at the Carps can bring your dreams into reality.
Here a quote from some of our recent customers:
"They pulled out all the stops, nothing was too much trouble from them. They provided specific foods for people with dietary requirements. The food, what can I say, was absolutely delcious. 5 stars all round an excellent job by the carps team, would highly recommend".
